Is chocolate milk better for you after a sports game than water or gatorade?
Recently, I watched a newcast that preached the benefits of chocolate milk saying that it had the right balance of sugars and proteins to be very beneficial to your body after a rigorous workout, I was wondering if there was any truth in this, or if Gatorade and/or water was still the best way to rehydrate.
After my workout, I mix Optimum Nutrition Pro Complex with about 8 oz of Chocolate milk, and I've considerably bulked up pretty fast and effectively...i workout at night after work and school...so the milk takes longer to digest..especially when i'm a sleep...BEFORE a workout (about an hour) I take ON 100% whey protein with Water or a simple sugar mix (water and sugar) which will speed up the digestion of the protein faster ...DURING my workout (or when I play basketball or any other rigorous sports) I usually drink water or gatorade...mostly gatorade or powerade since these sports drinks will replenish/rehydrate the electrolytes that your body has "sweated" out ...other than that, I've really had no problems using chocolate milk AFTER a workout...but then again, everybody differs and we metabolize these foods and drinks at different rates...go figure...
