how do i clean a waterproof nylon track suit?
hi i recently got my new warmups for my cross country team they are waterproof and work very well water does nothing to them but my last meet was very muddy and they are now very dirty
the outside i believe is 100%polyester and the inner lining is 100% nylone
anyone know how to wash them with out ruining the fabric and loosing its water proofing abilitys?
(lots of other runners on my team washed theres wrong and no longer have them waterproof)
Use the detergent specified by the manufacturer. Typically, DWR fabrics (which is what I assume you have) need to be washed in a powdered detergent, without fabric softener, and hang-dried. Do not use fabric softener sheets in the dryer. If it's Goretex or similar laminates, you must use the specified products. Laminates can generally be washed in liquid or powder detergents and hung dry.
"waterproofs" are often DWR, laminated membranes like Goretex, or coated products. DWR are the least waterproof -- they'll shed light rain, but won't do much for you in a frog-drowner; laminates, if the seams are properly constructed, keep you dry without making you think you've been mummified in plastic and are about to drown in your own sweat, and the coated products (again, with proper seam construction) will keep you dry from the rain but will also keep your own sweat in. (The cure there is
strategic placement of zippers underarms, in pockets, vented capes, etc.)
