Real Madrid Triumphs Again
Winning 1-0 to the Deportivo La Coruña, Real Madrid managed to place in the second place of the Spanish league with 41 points, while it gets closer and closer the leader Barcelona that right now counts with 53 points.
In the encounter the ‘white’ players had the control of the ball for a higher percentage of time than Depor. Despite having a better domain, Real Madrid had troubles regarding the consciousness. At the beginning everybody look a little distracted, until Arjene Robben took charge of the team, and although appear a little individualist for moments, still could keep the order to develop the game strategy proposed by the trainer ‘Juande’ Ramos.
Another player with that made an important performance was Sergio Ramos, who with an excellent physical condition did a great job through the Merengue’s right touchline.
During the first period the game had the same tone from both teams, who only play in a self-protective mode; nonetheless for the second half Deportivo lost Rodolfo Bodipo due to an injury. Before this situation Real Madrid reacts and knowing they have to break up the rival defense.
The game continued without much emotion, but in a slip from the ‘white-and-blues’, the captain Raúl with a tremendous kick hit the ball into the box contrary, giving the victory to the Whites without knowing just yet. This was the occurrence that woke up the Depor, which with several direct shots to the goalpost put the meringue keeper Iker Casillas on alert and let the Real know they were ready to defend themselves.
With the replacement of Raúl and Higuaín for Royston Drenthe and Klaas Huntelaar respectively, Coach Ramos seek out to reinforce the left side with stronger and faster attackers that could give more support to Gabriel Heinze. Real Madrid played in a very organized way, like trying to not lose focus; while Depor did it in a lackluster way, which made them lose the dominion of the sphere and every time their opponents exerted a huge pressure that impeded them recover it easily.
In his intend to minimized their actions, the white-and-blue trainer Miguel Angel Lotina, changed his game system asking his players to act more aggressively, order that Lafita, Verdú and Valerón followed determinedly, joining forces to make some threatening actions that for a couple of times scared Casillas; especially when at a determined moment Real low its rhythm and allowed Recre in its zone.
Real Madrid recovered its attitude and knew how to pull out the success of the game, based on forcing the rivals who were incapable of resisted. In the end the deserved victory staid with the Whites to line up in their latest winning strike, which now sum five consecutive triumphs, and puts them in the new resurgence phase they are going through next to Juan de la Cruz Ramos, and that if they achieve to maintain will give them some good possibilities of reaching the culés leaders.
