Tips on shooting/striking a soccer ball?
I've tried one way and another and I just can't strike the soccer ball correctly. My foot seems to twist in a half pass position or just drills through the middle, I know the way I'm supposed to kick it, I just can't bring everything together. Any tips from soccer players? Thanks!!!!
Laces and lift. Say for example you're shooting with you're right: plant your left foot next to the ball, and point your right foot toes at the ground. As you swing through, lift off your plant (left) foot slightly, so your right foot doesn't hit the ground. Follow through with your right foot finishing at the goal, and almost jump off your left foot and land on your right. With practice, this will produce a low, hard accurate shot.
Just constantly shoot. It has to become natural and smooth and flowing, so that every shot feels good off your foot. If you can, go to a local park on your own with a few balls and some cones or markers. Set the cones up about ten yards apart from each other, then imagine an eighteen yard box around them, like a real field.
Practice shooting through the ten yard goal from all over the eighteen yard box. Once you've mastered this, make the goal only five yards. Master this shot from all over the eighteen yard box. Keep reducing the size until you can hit a single cone from anywhere in the penalty area with a natural, flowing strike. Add in defenders, etc.
Good luck!
